Get familiar with the different map markers and what each one represents

Updated over 2 months ago

Understanding the markers on your Fishbox map not only enhances navigation but also enriches your fishing experience by helping you identify key spots and features. Below is a detailed guide on each map marker, including their appearance and functionality, along with instructions on how to manage their visibility in your app settings.

Map markers

  1. Hot Spots(Premium Feature)

These markers are green and feature a fish icon, indicating verified hot spots where fishing conditions are favorable. These spots are identified based on reliable reports of successful catches, offering you a higher chance of a good catch.

  2. My Places
This red marker comes with a thermometer icon, representing locations you have personally marked. These might include your preferred fishing spots or areas of interest that you wish to explore or monitor for temperature-related conditions.

  3. Waterways
Blue markers showcasing waves help you quickly spot bodies of water such as lakes, rivers, reservoirs, ponds, canals, etc. Ideal for route planning or locating new fishing territories, these markers ensure you never miss any waterway on the map.

  4. My Catches
Marked with a float icon, these purple markers highlight locations where you’ve logged catches previously. They serve as a personal record of your fishing successes and can assist in identifying patterns or preferred spots over time. Unfortunately, this feature is currently available only on iOS devices.

How to enable/disable map markers

To manage the visibility of markers on your map, simply do the following:

  1. Open Map Settings on the Map tab, scroll down and adjust the settings.

  2. Enable a marker by toggling the switch to the right, or disable it by toggling to the left. An active marker will show a blue switch, while an inactive marker’s switch will appear grey.

By tailoring these settings, you can maintain a clutter-free map interface that directly supports your fishing activities, whether you're looking to explore new spots or keep track of your successful locations.
